Message Originaly i was going to buy the AZ Z car brake kit. I have heard really good reviews from people about their products on the track and off. When im done i would like my Z to be garaged and primarily used for track days but i would like the option for driving it on the street/cruizes.

Does anyone own this kit? The full kit? And have you ever been to a track day in 100+ deg weather like AZ? They are both the same price $2200 but each have there ups and downs. I would like to delete my old E-brake set up and thats why i like the simpler Az Z car option thats a direct bolt on to their kit. (but it does cost more going that route)

AZ Z car kit-
6 piston Front and 4 piston Rear super light Willwood aluminum calipers
with SS pistons that dont rust and and seals that virtually don't leak or need a rebuild.
2 piece 13in front 12.2 rear slotted or drilled rotors
SS lines

cons -
Have to use a proportioning valve
Deletes stock E-brake (one can be purchased to work with their kit for an additional cost)

Akebono kit-
4 piston front 2 piston rear Nissan Calipers
1 piece Stoptech 14in front and 13.8in rear slotted or drilled rotors.
SS lines

Cons-
Heavier Nissan calipers
4 less pistons (is that really important?)
piston seals that leak over time and corrode the piston and require allot more rebuilds

A few question and answers Az Z car has on their web site:
Question: Do the calipers need frequent rebuilds?
Answer: Out of the over 5000 Wilwood calipers sold by Arizona Z Car since about 1983, I think
we have sold 3 or 4 rebuild kits. ( I think 1 or 2 of them were just spares)

Question: How can they last that long?
Answer: The calipers are anodized aluminum and don't rust, the pistons are stainless steel and are extremely wear and corrosion resistant.

Question: Don't the calipers need dust seals?
Answer: No, I know of no reason for an additional seal, the O-rings completely seal out dirt,
water, dust etc., air can not get past the o-rings.

So the main reason why anyone would get the Akebono would be because they are easier to install (because of the deleted E-brake components with the AZ Z car kit) and they have 14 in front and 13.8in rear rotors right? but everything else leads me to believe that the Az Z car kit is better but it would change things if i knew what the Akebono kit was like on the track.
